Due to the nature of our training space and what we do, participants are REQUIRED to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. No exceptions will be made.
Full vaccination is defined by getting the full regimen of shots (Pfizer/Moderna = 2, J&J = 1), passing the required 2 weeks for full inoculation, and receiving a booster within 6-8 months of your last dose. You will be required to present your CDC vaccination card before gaining entrance to the training space.
Again, no exceptions will be made to this policy, so please don’t ask.
For insurance reasons we require all participants to be 18 years or older.
The P.A. Klopffetchers mainly focus on the teachings of Johannes Liechtenauer, a German fencing master from the 15th century, because of the abundance of translated source material. Though we are less focused on ideology than we are on having fun!
Our club's members have dabbled in a number of weapon groups including longsword, rapier, dussack, dagger and saber, with a focus on learning through play. We are a small club with a big personality. We don't have an address listed because our main training space is currently located in the basement of a private residence. Feel free to contact us if you are interested in training with us.
We currently do not have training fees for those with their own gear. We may require a donation for use of loaner gear which goes straight to the maintenance and replacement of those items.
Currently we are hosting a weekly Fight Night on Thursday evenings from 7:00-9:00pm. We welcome adults of all backgrounds, genders, identities and skill levels to come and play with us!
Interested in HEMA but not ready for a Fight Night? Contact us about beginners training.
Swords in the Park is a once weekly class that covers the principles of historical longsword and aimed at all experience levels. The goal of training in the park is to increase our clubs visibility and accessibility for new and experienced fencers alike. Swords in the Park is a seasonal class typically running from late spring to early fall (the exact schedule is dependent on Mother Nature). Check back for more updates!
Though we sometimes have classes, please keep in mind that we are a club not a school. We do not have paid staff. This means our administrators respond to emails or messages in their spare time and our instructors provide classes when they have the time an energy to donate to the club. Please be patient when contacting us, as well all have busy lives.
